Letter from the President

For many years the United States has been recognized as the land of second chances.   Whether it is an immigrant looking for a new start in order to support his family, or those escaping religious and ethnic oppression, each came with the hope that tomorrow would bring new opportunities.

Presently, over nine million men and women are incarcerated in our jails and prisons around the country.   At some point in time 95% of them will eventually come home.   For many, the prospect of breaking the cycle of recidivism is bleak.   Most of them leave facilities hoping for that important second chance only to find the path home filled with many barriers that set them up for failure.

The staff here at Operation New Hope are excited to be able to offer hope to the many men and women who have completed incarceration time through our successful READY4WORK re-entry program.   For several years READY4WORK has shown that most are successful when given that important second chance.   We believe that hope is reborn when one finds the support needed to address the many barriers to employment faced upon release from the penal system.   Through a well-orchestrated combination of case management, job readiness training, life coaching and job placement, we are able to create new pathways to successful re-entry.   We offer that important second chance if you have recently been released or know someone who has.

If you would like to help us in this work we invite you to partner with our team.   We have many ways you can help.   If you are an employer we welcome the opportunity to assist you with job placement.   If you are a faith-based organization looking to get involved, we are in need of an army of compassionate people to serve as life coaches to providing both friendship and guidance to those in need.

President Bill Clinton acknowledges the READY4WORK program in his new book titled "GIVING."   The book speaks about the many ways that we as individuals and organizations can make a difference.   My staff and I invite you to join this quest for change.   Your efforts can change the face of this terrible national crisis and make a world of difference.
